Mr. Jamie X. Velasco, 57, of Mt. Airy died suddenly on Friday October 9, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Bonnie D. Velasco.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia on August 5, 1952 he was the son of Lucille Velasco of Beltsville and the late James Velasco.
Jamie was an officer for the United States Secret Service for 26 years. During his years in the Secret Service Jamie served as both a Firearms Instructor and Physical Fitness Training Instructor at the JJRTC Office of Training. Jamie also served on the U.S. Secret Service's Motorcade Support Unit for President George W. Bush. Jamie was employed by Eagle Technologies, Inc. at the time of his passing.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two children; daughter Dru Velasco of Frederick and son Darren Velasco of Mt. Airy. Brothers Terry Velasco of Annapolis and Dean Loren of New York City.
Visitation: Friends may call on Wednesday October 14, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. Mt. Airy.
Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday October 15, at 11:00am. The Rev. Wade Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
