Mr. James Paul Wiley, 74, of Frederick passed away with his family by his side on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Wanda Jane Burdette Wiley, his wife of 35 years.
Born on March 22, 1934, in Altoona, PA he was the son of the late James B. and Anna M. Weamer Wiley.
He was a graduate of Altoona Catholic School. Jim was an electronic maintenance supervisor at Ft. Detrick, retiring in 1991 after 37 years service; he stayed active working a number of places including: Stauffer Funeral Home, Carpel Video, Visitation Academy and Kennedy's Service Center. Mr. Wiley served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of F.S.K. American Legion, Post 11, and the Frederick Elks Club. Jim enjoyed bowling, making trips to Las Vegas and Charles Town and was the family Handyman; but most of all, known as Uncle Jim and Pop Pop to family and friends, he loved spending time with his friends and family, babysitting his grandchildren and cooking large family meals, especially at holiday time.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 5 children: Ronnie Fouche of Frederick and friend Karen Ventrell of Chevy Chase, Eddie Fouche and wife Holly, Cathy Wiley Roberson and husband Bruce, Michael Wiley and Jennifer Sines and husband John all of Frederick; 8 grandchildren: Heather Fouche, Kimberly Fouche and fiance Mike Tipton, Rachel Fouche, Issac Fouche, Matthew Stotler, Rebecca Roberson, Natalie Sines and Belle Sines; 4 great grandchildren Isaiah Fouche, Carmella Dorsey, Bianca Thews and Christian Stotler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim will also be remembered by his special friends: Doug and Nora Barnes and Tracy and Arturo Zamora all of Hagerstown.
Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Gertrude Fox, Martha Koch, Julia Martin, Catherine Brady and Marion Steinbeiser; and 3 brothers: Joseph Wiley, Robert Wiley and Richard Wiley.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, February 23, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Services:
Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24, with Rev. Joseph C. Burdette officiating.
Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with Issac Fouche, Matthew Stotler, Mike Tipton, Mark Wayne Watson, II, Jarrett Droneburg, Doug Barnes and Timothy Peake serving as pallbearers.
