Mr. James L. "Jim" Edwards, Jr., 60, of Frederick, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home with his family by his side following a month-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the loving husband of Lisa Edwards for nearly 27 years.
Born February 9, 1955 in Cheverly, MD, he was the son of Frances Perkoski of Silver Spring and the late James L. Edwards, Sr.
Jim graduated from Good Counsel High School in Silver Spring, MD in 1973. He was employed as a silk screener at Cheers Sports in Ashburn, VA for the last 18 years. Jim enjoyed horse racing, baseball and golf. He was an avid Nationals, Redskins, and Terps fan. Jim was a coach with East Frederick Little League (EFLL) and Frederick Baseball Association (FBA). Above all else, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and relaxing by the pool.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jimmy Edwards of Frederick; his daughter, Sarah Edwards of Frederick; his siblings, Bob Edwards, Karen duFief, Kevin Edwards, John Edwards, Jean Edwards, and Sharon Bell; step-sister, Debbie Bezold; his mother-in-law, Gretchen Nelson; brother-in-law, Ted Nelson; sister-in-law, Debbie Nelson; and 14 nieces and nephews, Danny, Tommy, Kate, Johnny, Jimmy, Tommy, Claire, Emily, Hailey, Caitlin, Chase, Jacob, David and Billy.
Jim was predeceased by his step-father, John Perkoski; a brother, Daniel Edwards; and a sister, Joan Edwards.
In celebration of Jim's life, the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
