James C. (Jim) Humerick, Sr.

James C. (Jim) Humerick, Sr., 79, of Thurmont, MD., passed away Tuesday January 23, 2018.  Born December 1, 1938, he was the beloved husband of Carol L. Humerick and son of the late Hazel Humerick Shriner.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in radar operations while stationed in Germany.  He worked in the automotive industry his entire life, retiring from Tate Chrysler in Frederick as the Service Manager in 2003.  Jim was an active member in the Thurmont community, volunteering his time for many years in groups such as the Thurmont Jaycees, Thurmont Boy Scouts, Thurmont Little League, and Thurmont Colts youth football.  Jim was inducted into the Catoctin Youth Association Hall of Fame in 2007.  Jim restored his prized 1946 Ford and was a member of several car clubs including the Catoctin Mountain Street Rods and the Frederick County Street Rods.  He was a member of Thurmont Amvets Post 7.  After his retirement, Jim enjoyed playing golf, traveling to Lancaster, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his son Jim and daughter-in-law Lisa, his grandson Brandon and fiance’ Nichelle, brother Joe and wife Norma Shriner, sister Pat and husband Adrian Locklear, brother Mike and wife Cheryl Shriner, brother Jerry and wife Mary Shriner, sister-in-law Louise Humerick, and Aunt Pauline Grimes.  Jim was preceded in death by brother  Bob Humerick.  Jim will also be remembered by his beloved dog, Sadie.
Services will be held on Saturday January 27 at 11 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont, MD.  with Father James Hamrick officiating. The family will receive friends Friday January 26 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
