James Upperman

February 6, 1943 — July 27, 2019

James Upperman, 76, of New Market, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at his home in New Market, MD.  At his side were his beloved wife Cris and faithful dog Callie.

Born on February 6, 1943, in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of James and Alice (Boylan) Upperman.

After graduating high school in 1961, Jim enlisted in the Army and spent three years in Germany. When he returned to the states he spent the next 15+ years developing hardware and software for government and private industry. After changing course to work in residential construction, he used his carpentry skills to build the beautiful home that he and Cris shared together for the past 27 years.

By far Jim's greatest passion in life was bird hunting. He treasured the many hours he spent in the outdoors hunting game birds, ducks, and geese with his beloved bird dogs Sean, Cork, Molly, and Callie. His best memories were of hunting trips to Canada, watching his dogs work fields and woods full of pheasant, quail, and grouse. He filled his home with all of the things that reminded him of his great love for his dogs, for hunting, and for the peace and tranquillity he found in nature.

Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cristine Upperman; his sister, Jeanne Price of PA; his niece, Kristi Price of PA; and his nephew David Price of PA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Road, Damascus, MD 20872 from 10:30-11:00 am.

A celebration of Jim's life will follow at the church at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Green Valley Animal Hospital, 2910 Price's Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD 21754.
