Mr. James E. Tyler, 85, of Hagerstown, MD passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Meritus Medical Center. He is the beloved husband of Helen Tyler for 65 years.
Born on April 17, 1929 in Longdale, VA he was the son of the late James E. Tyler and Lucy Smith Bowman.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Bureau of Standards as an Air Conditioner Mechanic. In his spare time he loved painting pictures, working in his yard and garden and working with his model train set.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children Patsy Good, James Tyler, Jr. and Barbara Lehman; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Leatha and brother Marshall.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25 at 1PM. Rev. Tim May will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
