James E. "Jimmy" Summers, Sr., 59, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home in Frederick. He was married to his soul mate, Cathy Summers, for 40 years.
Born on March 12, 1957, he was the son of the late Samuel and Violet Summers.
He was a graduate of Linganore High School class of 1975.
He was a member of the Frederick County Farm Bureau, a life member of the Frederick County Agriculture Society and a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
The passion Jim has shown for his work was evident by the numerous properties he purchased and renovated, including the farm where he grew up.
Swimming in the pool with his grandkids and hunting with his grandsons, drinking beer and eating crabs on the porch he built were some of Jim's favorite things. He loved farming and in particular his cattle as well as butchering on the farm with family and friends. He was able to make several hunting trips out West with his son and several family members. Also, he enjoyed attending auctions, especially where his son was the auctioneer.
Jim began his employment under Robert Sanbower with E.W. Ausherman from 1973 to 1982. For the next 20 years, he was employed by Robert Sanbower at Sanbower Builders. In 2002, he began Summers Building and Remodeling and continued until his recent illness.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, his son, James, Jr. and companion, Colby Hubble, of Frederick; daughter, Jessica Boothe and husband, Hosea, of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren, Tanner Summers, Trey and Zayla Boothe; brothers, Sam Summers and Bonnie, of Frederick, and Kevin Summers and wife, Kay, of Mt. Airy; and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his beloved Boston Terrier, Teaky Pearl.
Jim was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexa Marie Summers; and a brother, Glenn Summers.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at Stauffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Cline officiating. Final resting place will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.

The family wishes to thank all the friends and family who graciously gave their time to visit the last few days of Jim's life. Also, a special thank you to the medical team at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Debbie Williams and Hospice of Frederick County.
