James Frank Nelson Seiler, Jr., 80, of Frederick, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on October 30, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Nancy Reno Seiler, his wife of 42 years.
Born on April 17, 1934 at the home of his grandmother, who was a midwife in Baltimore. He was the son of the late Nelson James Frank Seiler and Caroline M. Lubinski Seiler.
Jim served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1956.
He worked as an engineering technician for 32 years for the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) now known as NIST the National Institute of Standards and Technology and had three of his inventions patented through NBS and the Navy.
Jim served on the boards of the Frederick Rescue Mission and CareNet Pregnancy Center. In addition he was a deacon and elder at New Hope Church. His greatest passions were studying the Word of God and telling others about Jesus whom he had served since he was 26 years old.
Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy, are: sons, Scott J. Seiler and wife Ruth, Mark J. Smedley and fiance' Suzanne Christensen, and Kirk G. Smedley and wife Kristin ; grandchildren: Ruth Bearsley, Sharon Seiler, Ian Smedley, Hanna Smedley, Ryan Spadaro, Madison Smedley, Braeden Smedley and Evan Smedley. Jim was preceded in death by a brother Theodore and a sister, Carole Cavill.
The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM on Tuesday, November 4, at New Hope Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 5305A Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703, where services will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Francis VanDelden officiating.
Interment will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown MD and following the interment everyone is invited back to New Hope for a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the New Hope Church.
