Mr. James Garnet Peck, 91, of Monrovia, formerly of Potomac, died Monday, March 12, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Betty Peck for 68 years.
He retired as a Naval architect for the Naval Surface Warfare Center at the David Taylor Model Basin. In addition, he was a member for over 50 years of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Mr. Peck was a member of the American Legion and the Odd Fellows, and was a WWII era Army veteran.
He was an avid reader and loved watching sports, especially the Maryland Terps.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Brenda Proper and husband, Richard, of Upperco; Nancy Sutherland of Mt. Airy; one son, Daniel Peck of Kauai; eight grandchildren, Rachel Proper, Anna Carson, Christopher Knotts, Katie Cavey, Sarah Peck, Melissa Peck, Jacob Peck and Julia Peck; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kevin, Rebecca, Matthew, Christopher, Justin, and James.
He was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Snouffer.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 19 from the funeral home with Pastor Baek officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac United Methodist Church Cemetery.
