Mr. James Carl Oldach, 78, of Walkersville, died on Thursday September 19, 2013 at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville. He was the husband of Becky Oldach for 47 years.
Born on February 15, 1935 in Brockport, NY he was the son of the late Rev. Carl William and mother Alma Sutorius Oldach.
Jim was a Communications Specialist for the U.S. Army and DOE retiring in 1972. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Army for 20 years.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in everything he did. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his German Shepherds. He enjoyed working on his cars and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was a member of Peace in Christ Lutheran Church, Walkersville, MD and the American Legion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Pam and husband Paul Smith of Adamstown, MD, Gilbert Oldach and wife Brenda of Walkersville, MD, and James Oldach, Jr. and wife Sheila of Walkersville, MD; grandchildren, Brooke, Melissa, Christina, Tori, Greg, Joey, AJ, Zachary, Ashley, James and Olivia. And eleven great-grandchildren. One sister, Audrey and husband Dr. Edward Stewart of Silver Spring, MD. Also survived by numerous nieces, cousins and many beloved friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville, MD 21793 in Walkersville, MD from 11:00am-1:00pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm. Officiating will be Monsignor Richard Murphy and Pastor Dave Weber. A reception will immediately follow. A private interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
