James O. "Orrie" Moran, 86, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully in his home on September 11, 2022. He was born on February 3, 1936 in Grafton, WV to James L. Moran and Lillie (Compton) Moran. James was preceded in death by his sister Nancy (Moran) Bates.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Moran and three children Eileen Moran, Brian Moran and wife Jennifer, and Eric Moran and wife Allison; grandchildren Zoe and Jared; siblings Geraldine Ashcraft, Irene Oliveto, Reva Williams and husband Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was a man of many talents and he could fix anything. He loved working on cars, gardening and woodworking. James served in the US Army as a peacetime draftee from 1959 to 1961. He worked for over 30 years for the Washington, DC government, retiring as the Associate Director of the Bureau of Classification and Compensation.
The family would like to recognize the caregivers at Fahrney Keedy Assisted and Nursing Care facility, Hospice of Washington County, Assisting Hands and Visiting Angels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fahrney Keedy benevolent fund: 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
The family will receive friends and family from 2-4 pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. A service will immediately follow.
Internment will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354.
