Mr. James Lee “Jim” Moore, 88, of Mt. Airy died peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of Judy V. Moore.
Born on April 4, 1924 in Broadford, Virginia he was the son of the late James Franklin and Mary Bell Doane Moore.
Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was a very active honorary life member of the Damascus American Legion Post 171. He worked for Montgomery County as an Electrical Inspector for over 31 years until his retirement. After retirement he started J. L. Moore Electric   with his son Jerry. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church, Damascus.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Barbara Rocke and husband Vern of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jerry Moore and wife Cathy of Chambersburg, PA and Jennifer Shaffer and husband Andy of Mt. Airy. Six grandchildren Cyndi, Shelly, Karen, Drew, George and Josh. Six great grandchildren. Sister Louise Holland of Fairfield, PA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy from 3-5 and 7-9pm, with a Post  Everlasting  Service at 8:00 pm, on Friday November 2, 2012. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 3, at the Damascus American Legion, Post 171, 10201 Lewis Drive, Damascus, MD 20872 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Damascus American Legion at the above address or to the Mountain View United Methodist Church, 11220 Mountain View Road, Damascus, MD 20872.
