James McVicker

Mr. James L. McVicker, 80, of Hurlock and Thurmont, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was the loving husband of Linda McVicker.

Born October 24, 1933 in Fairmont, WV., he was the son of the late Bernard and Naomi Carpenter McVicker.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana McVicker Covey.

He was a faithful member of The Fathers House Church in Frankfurt, DE and Morningstar Family Church in Thurmont. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to watch NASCAR and football. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving four legged companion, Luci Lu.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Debra L. Carey (Ronald), Jamea L. Gouker (Mark), and Billie Keeney (Shane); seven grandchildren, Julie, Samantha, Diana, Brandon, Mark James,  Adam and Ashley; three brothers; two sisters; and many nephews, nieces and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Morningstar Family Church, 14698 Albert Staub Road, Thurmont, where services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to assist the family with funeral and medical expenses and sent to Morningstar Family Church at the above address.
