James Norris Franklin Martin, III

Mr. James Norris Franklin Martin, III (Buddy), 52, of Thurmont, MD died Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at York Hospital in PA. 

Born May 18, 1972, in Frederick, MD. He was raised by the late James Norris Franklin Martin, Sr. and Janet Rose Martin and the son of the late James (Jim) Norris Franklin Martin, Jr.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Stefanie; and his three sons, Colin Martin (Olivia Asam), Jerad White (Caroline Michael) and Jake White (Ashley). Buddy has two grandchildren, Jansen and Ava White and is expecting a third in early 2025. He was the brother of Amy Kennedy (Mark); and uncle of nieces, Megan Claggett (Matt), Jordyn Bridgett, and Kennedy Claggett. He will also be remembered by numerous family and friends.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Ann Gardner (Bean); and his loving nephew, Alex Kennedy.

He was a graduate of Catoctin High School class of 1990.

He worked at Glass Concepts, Inc for 26 years and will be missed by his many co-workers.

He was a lifelong member of Harriet Chapel Episcopal Parish in Catoctin Furnace where he enjoyed participating in the making of apple butter for Colorfest.

Buddy was an avid golfer and New York Yankees fan and his hobbies and interests included spending time with family and friends, especially at Cherry Grove and Myrtle Beaches, classic model trains, baseball memorabilia, and the passionate pursuit of useless trivia knowledge. Buddy was dedicated to the community and volunteered his time coaching youth sports in Thurmont Little League and Catoctin Youth Association where he coached basketball and football.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Thurmont Amvets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with service beginning at 11 a.m. Parking will be behind the Amvets in the RR Donnelly lot.
