James Albert Lewis, 77, of Knoxville Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at his home.
He was born August 14, 1945, in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Known as Jim or Jimmy, he was a veteran of the Marine Corp and volunteered to serve as a door gunner in the Vietnam War. He later served in Operation Desert Storm. Jimmy had a career as a skilled carpenter with Amtrak for 25 years. Jimmy had a passion for service in country, family, church, community, and friends. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his family fiercely. He never let an opportunity to serve pass him by.
James Albert Lewis is survived by his son, James Martin Lewis and his wife, Jennifer and their children, Callista, Coren, Lillian and Aaron; his daughter, Rebecca Scales and her children, Jessica and Kenny. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Frances and Doris Jean; brother, John William; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Elizabeth Childs; his sisters, Catherine Louise and Barbara Glenn; and brothers, Frederick Nelson, Gary Norman and John Fielding.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 199 North Place, Frederick, MD. A receiving of family and friends will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
