JAMES "JIM" EDWARD KIDWELL, 75, OF POWHATAN, V A.DIED ON MARCH 28 AT HOME IN his SLEEP, GOD KNEW THAT HE HAD SUFFERED FOR SO LONG AND CALLED HIM HOME TO REST, BORN SEPT. 28, 1936 IN FREDERICK MD. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE WILSON T. AND FRANCES V. KIDWELL. HE SERVED his COUNTRY AS A PARATROOPER IN THE ARMY FROM 1954 TO 1966 WHEN HE WAS INJURED IN VIETNAM AND BECAME A T6 PARAPLEGIC. A MEMBER OF THE 11TH,
82ND AND THE 101 ST. AIRBORNE DIVISION.HE RECEIVED THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL FOR HEROISM AND THE PURPLE HEART FOR WOUNDS RECEIVED IN ACTION IN VIETNAM ON MARCH 6, 1966. HE SAID "IF I HAD ONE WISH THAT COULD BE GRANTED, IT WOULD BE THAT I COULD RETURN TO VIET NAM AND MY OLD UNIT".HE LOVED his COUNTRY DEARLY. HE WAS A LIFE MEMBER OF THE AMVETS POST #2 OF FREDERICK, MD.
HE WAS THE DEVOTED HUSBAND OF SANDRA (SANDY) A. KIDWELL OF 26 YEARS; STEPSON NATHAN E. DANIEL, MOTHER -IN-LAW EMILY M. AMOS, ONE BROTHER C. THOMAS KIDWELL AND WIFE NANCY OF FINKSBURG, MD.:THREE SISTERS, SHIRLEY L. MORAN OF TIMBERLAKE, N.C., MARYELLEN (SUE) WINPIGLER OF FREDERICK, WANDA M. KING OF MIDDLETOWN MD. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY SPECIAL NEPHEWS, RONNIE, DALE & SHAWN WINPIGLER AND MANY OTHER
NEPHEWS & NIECES. IN ADDITION TO his PARENTS HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY FOUR BROTHERS, WILLIAM ALFRED, GILBERT W., ROBERT L., AND GRAY F. KIDWELL, AND ONE SISTER LORNA V. ROTE.
THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 2-4 AND 7-9 SUNDAY APRIL 1 AT STAUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1621 OPOSSUMTOWN PIKE, FREDERICK, MD. AND on MONDAY APRIL 2ND.FROM 12 NOON UNTIL LEAVING FOR A GRAVESIDE SERVICE
