James Wilson Johnson, Jr., 70, of Rocky Ridge, passed from this life on Thursday, December 6 at his residence. Born on February 22, 1948, in Frederick, he was the son of James Wilson Johnson and Ruth Hilda (Rice) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson worked for F.O. Day Paving Company for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. Jim had a vegetable garden every year at his Rocky Ridge home.
He is survived by son: James Wilson Johnson, III; daughters: Lisa Shafer and husband Steve, Vicki Fox and husband Herbie; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by siblings: Debora Tavernie and husband Dale and Patricia Harding; a favorite aunt, Olivia "Aunt Pete" Hoffman and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson will also be missed by his best friend, Jimmy Kline. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwight (DV) McCoy and a brother, David "Stumpy" Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 13 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. Final services will be private at the convenience of the family.
