James Reeder

James Hubert Reeder, 82, formerly of Boonsboro, Maryland passed from this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home in Hagerstown.

Born on August 23, 1929, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Amos E. and Margie A. (Baker) Reeder.  His wife, Clara (Conner) Reeder, preceded him in death on March 15, 2002.

Mr. Reeder was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1947 to 1951.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville, Maryland, associate member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown, and had attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at Locust Grove.

James was a volunteer with the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, the Washington County Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.  He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki S. Jagodowski of Lakeville, New York; four grandchildren, Tara Louchery and her husband Brian of Hagerstown, Adam Jagodowski and his wife Kristen of Hagerstown, Barett Jagodowski of Rochester, New York, and Skylar Jagodowski of Greenville, North Carolina; and four great-grandchildren, Clara, Keller and Grant Louchery and Taylor Jagodowski.  He is also survived by his special friend Rhoda Whittington of Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia R. Slifer.

The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011.  Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate.  Interment services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
