James Gardner
August 31, 1936 — July 20, 2019
Don Gardner, 82, of Ijamsville, passed from this life on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy. He was the husband of Alwilda M. Gardner who died in 2016.
Born on August 31, 1936, in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Henry and Louise Gardner.
Don was a furniture refinisher for the U. S Senate from 1972-2004, retiring as the shop manager.
He was an avid golfer working part time at Little Bennett Golf Course; enjoyed making furniture and spending time with family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three children, Stephen Gardner and wife Kathy of Frederick, Wes Gardner and wife Terri of Damascus and, Donna Gardner of Frederick; four grandchildren: Sean Gardner, Michael Gardner, Ryan Gardner and Kellen Gardner; a sister, Phyllis Nevetral and husband Royce of Virginia and a brother Ray Gardner and wife Marie. Don was preceded in death by a sister, Aldine Gusley who passed in 2013.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Washington, DC.
