James Church Dockery, 82, of Brunswick, died suddenly, Friday, March 22, at Frederick Health Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born May 6, 1941, in North Carolina, he was the son of the late James Clarence and Florence Emmaline Dockery.
Jimmy or Doc, as he was known, is survived by his beloved wife, Norma F Dockery, Brunswick; two daughters: Joellen E Reed and husband Art of New Market and, Karen L Dockery of Brunswick, and a son James C Dockery and wife Brenda of Frederick; 5 grandchildren, Kathryn E Hribar and husband Adam, Sara E Ames and husband David, Cooper Dockery, Carson Dockery and Gracie Dockery. He is also survived by two sisters, Willa McGaha and Judy Tiller.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Douglas Dockery and three sisters, Wanda Larsen, Doris Athey and Rhonda Elick.
He had been employed at Jordan Kitt’s Music as a piano delivery man and had been retired for 10 years. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness West Congregation, Frederick.
Jimmy was fond of his family, especially the kids. He enjoyed their company and feeding them snacks and sweets, that their parents would disapprove of. He was ever present with a smile or distraction for a crying baby. Jimmy loved traveling with the extended family for beach vacations where he could happily nap in the sun and recharge. Jimmy will be fondly remembered and missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Avenue in Brunswick. After the service a reception will follow at the Jefferson Ruritan Center, 4603 Lander Road A, Jefferson.
