James L. Devilbiss, 59, of Frederick passed away at his home on September 14, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born on July 20, 1952, he is survived by his wife, Shirley E. Devilbiss and his parents Franklin & Doris Devilbiss.
Jim lived with his wife, Shirley on an 18 acre farmette in Frederick. He enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of his farm and spending time with his family. He worked at the Department of Energy in Germantown for 40 years.
He is also survived by his children, Doug Browning and wife Judy of Frederick, Scott Browning of Smithsburg, Lori Snyder and husband Shawn of Fairfield, Kathy Wolford of Frederick and Tanya Snodderly and husband Robert of Frederick, brother, Joseph Devilbiss and wife Carol along with numerous nieces and nephews. He had 6 grandchildren who knew him as “Pappy”: Ryan Browning, Morgan Browning, Annabelle Browning, Todd Browning, Ellie Snyder & Austin Snyder. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Robin Lynn Devilbiss and Tammy Stull.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, September 16 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM where services will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 11AM. Pastor Elza Hurst will officiate.
Interment will follow at Mt. Prospect Church Cemetery.
