James Davis, Jr.

Mr. James S. Davis, Jr. 70, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family after a three year battle with melanomas. He was the husband of Josephine F. Cook Davis, his wife of 46 years.

Born on January 2, 1945, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late James S. and Ruby Wereley Davis. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Howard High School. Mr. Davis was a retired offset pressman for Revere Printing. He was an avid golfer and long time amateur bowler, as well as a Baltimore Orioles fan.

Surviving in addition to loving wife are children: Theresa Meyeres and husband Tim of Williamsport, James "Andy" Davis and wife Peggy of Emmitsburg and Helen Blair and husband Peter of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren: Debra Gilbert, Trista Davis, Amanda Carmean, Joshua Blair, Wyatt Davis, Peyton Davis, Gabriel Blair and Josephine Blair; three sisters: Lenora Hilton of North Carolina, Linda Hauer of Bel Air and Shirley Ogles and husband Glen of Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. David J. Davis, USA; and two sisters: Lolita Davis and Terri Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Friday, November 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy where funeral services will be held at 11:00 Am on Saturday, November 7, with Rev. Lisa Bandel officiating.

Interment will take place in Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
