James Charles Weller (Chuck), 62, Monrovia, passed away at Citizens Nursing Home in Frederick on Saturday, February 8, 2025, after a valiant fight against ALS.
Born in Frederick, on November 18, 1962, he was the son of James and Charlotte (Watkins) Weller.
After attending Linganore High School, he owned and operated J.C.’s Fence company. Chuck went on to work for the United States Postal Service for 40 years. When not working at the USPS, he spent time building fences with his father and brother.
In his younger years, Chuck was an active member at the New Market Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed riding mini bikes, dirt bikes, and later motorcycles. Chuck was a devoted horse racing owner and fan. In his later years, he enjoyed auctions and was known to frequently come home with a John Deere mower or tractor.
In addition to his mother, Charlotte, of Ijmasville, Chuck is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Weller and companion, Donald Lenhart, of Frederick and Jessica Boetker and fiancé, Ron Kuczinski, of Pasadena; his brother, Harold Weller and wife, Belinda, of Thurmont; nieces, Kylee Boetker, and Dallee Weller; nephews, Tatum Weller, and Liam Kuczinski; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He will be sorely missed by his beloved cat, Jameson. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, Victoria Menge, of Monrovia.
He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Weller; his paternal grandparents, Harold and Irma Weller; and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Audrey Watkins.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the respiratory team and nurses at Citizens Care and Rehab.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home,1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the funeral home in Frederick. Deacon Larry Matheny will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Chuck’s memory, to the ALS Association at www.als.org or to The ALS Association, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.
