Jacob Eric Bartholow, 26, of Winchester VA, went to be with the Lord on December 17, 2023 after a tragic accident. Born May 9, 1997, in Frederick MD, he was the beloved son of Charles Bartholow Jr and Sandra Monarca Bartholow.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents, Umberto and Barbara Monarca; brother, Charles Bartholow III and wife Anne Elise and three nieces, Lily, Juniper and Sylvie; Uncles Sergio (Jan) and Christopher Monarca, Michael Bartholow (Bobbi); Aunts Terri Dwyer (Brian), Anna Marie Valderrama (Max); great aunts Deborah Meek, Francis Hooper (Dan) and Eva Bartholow; and great uncle George (Junie) Baker. He was preceded in death by grandparents Charles Bartholow and Mary Ellen Bartholow.
Jacob was a 2015 Walkersville High School graduate and a 2019 St Mary’s College of Maryland graduate with Economics and History majors and Business minor. He was employed as Senior Executive Vice President of C3 Cycle, a business owned by his brother. They worked side by side running the business. Jacob loved the outdoors. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts at 16 and enjoyed hiking and biking. He was an avid bird watcher. He thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2020 and was on a mission to reach the highest points of all states, reaching 20 peaks. He excelled academically and was a member of the high school academic team where he found his passion for trivia, and he continued his love with Learned League. He also did lighting design for high school productions, starting when he was a freshman. He continued with his talent with Small Town Stars Theatre, where he was on the Board and did the lighting for most of their productions. He was also so kind, gentle, humble, and generous. He was so giving. He attended New Life Christian Church in Winchester VA and enjoyed spending time with the young adult bible study group.
A celebration of Jacob’s life will take place on Saturday, January 20th at 11:30 a.m. at Fredericktown Baptist Church in Walkersville MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jacob’s name to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy or other charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
