Jackie Lee Rohrer, 72, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, peacefully went into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Doey's House in Hagerstown surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 11, 1946, in Trego, Maryland, he was the precious son of Austin K. and Margaret I. (Grimm) Rohrer.
Jackie had a fierce love of hunting, fishing, Nascar 48 and doing puzzles with his adored niece, "Punkin Doodle" and watching all manor of sports.
After graduation from Boonsboro High School in 1964 and Shepherd College in 1968 he returned to the construction field where he had worked summers so he could be in the outdoors that he so dearly loved. That love included tending to vegetable and flower gardens, hunting mushrooms and appreciating God's earthly creations.
He served in the Army Reserves. He had a true servant's heart and helped countless people in his life time - especially the elderly. His faith during his courageous two year battle was admired by and left a mark on many, especially at his church, Lifehouse Church. More than anything or anyone, he loved his Lord most of all and is now rejoicing in His presence and suffering no more.
In addition to his parents, whom he honored, Jackie is also survived by his sister, whom he called his Christmas present, Connie Vance of Sharpsburg; the light of his life, niece, Kimberly Vance of Sharpsburg and fiance; numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins; including special cousins, who went out of their way to help lighten his load and bring cheer during his valiant fight, Bob, Jean, Randy, Suzanne and Ken Rohrer, Maxine Palmer, David and Herb Grimm; special church friends, Bill and Elva Bachtell, Brother Paul, Debbie and Les Grim, Ginger and Randy Sprecher, his seat partner Rick, and Pastors Jay Recto and Dave Rodriguez; and lifelong friends, Elmer, Richie, and Rosalie Jamison.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. His ashes will be scattered in the North, South, East and West of his beloved Rohrer's Mountain where Jackie was born and never left.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Jackie's memory, to Doey's House or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
