Mr. Jack Harold Walker, 91, of Frederick, Maryland, where he was a resident of Tranquility, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Northampton Manor Health Care.. He was the husband of Marie E. Shull Walker, his wife of 68 years.
Born May 22, 1920 in Florence, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Harry Grady and Julia Young Walker.
Mr. Walker served his county, retiring after 30 years of service, in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post #10570 and the American Legion Post #354 both in Powhatan, VA, the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association, and the Retired Officers Club. One of his many enjoyments was golfing. Jack was a good and honorable man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son John F. Walker and wife Linda of Walkersville, two grandchildren Jack Waker and wife Maggie of Middletown and Angie Henderson and husband Eric of Frederick, four great grandchildren Jacob Walker, Braeden Henderson, Molly Walker and Quintin Henderson. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Walker, brothers Elton and Julian Walker and a sister Louise Short.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 9, at 2:00pm in the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
