Irvin {Jinx or J.I.} Hamilton Zimmerman

Mr. Irvin {Jinx or J.I.} Hamilton Zimmerman, 80, long-time dairy farmer and well-respected resident of Walkersville died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Frederick.

He was the husband of Johannah Elizabeth Klamp Zimmerman, his wife of 56 years.

Born January 25, 1927 in Walkersville, he was the son of Ray B. and Mary E. Wachter Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman had a brother who died in infancy.

Irvin graduated from Walkersville High School and was President of his class of 1944. After graduation, Mr. Zimmerman served his country in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1946, with the Army of Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and WW II Victory Medal.

He was a life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company and a long-time member of the Glade Valley Grange and Frederick County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Zimmerman was an avid and accomplished hunter and belonged to the MD Hunt Club. He also was avid bowler earning many trophies.

Along with his wife, children, and long-time co-worker and family friend Galen "Jake" Eyler, he operated the family dairy farm on Daysville Rd. for 44 years, until his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife and 2 children, Ryan Zimmerman and wife Patricia, and Connie Roderuck and companion Edward Wetzel, all of Walkersville, and 5 grandchildren: Joshua Zimmerman, Andrew Roderuck, Amanda Zimmerman, Matthew Roderuck and Jamie Roderuck.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville on Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Services: Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Steve Humphrey.
