Irma M. Turnbull Weller, 90, of Urbana, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at College View Center Nursing Home in Frederick where she had been a resident since January 18, 2013.
Born January 2, 1923 in Frederick, she was the only child of the late James Howard and Maude Main Turnbull Davis. Her stepfather was the late George “Lynn” Davis.
She was the wife of the late Harold P. Weller who were married on August 26, 1939 in Warren County, Va. At the time of his death on December 10, 1987 they had been married for 48 years and lovingly raised seven children. They spent most of their lives as dairy farmers in New Market.
Irma was a loving, caring and devoted mother who adored her family and was always there for them. She was a great cook, baked wedding cakes and provided in-home day care. She loved growing flowers, especially iris and African violets, digging for old bottles, watching birds and snow. Most of all she treasured spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren in Monrovia.
She is survived by her children Barbara (Robert) Wilcom of Urbana; Jimmy (Sally) Weller of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; Carol (Norman) Poole of Keymar; Nancy Weller and companion Jack Burroughs of New Windsor; Sandy Weller of Urbana; Darlene (Robert) McFarland of Mount Airy; Gary (Sue) Weller of Keymar; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by her special cousin, Dot Zimmerman and long-time friend, Audrey Blank, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, December 9 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10 at Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Lambert officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD.
