Irene Johnson

Mrs. Irene S. Johnson, 92, of Thurmont died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born March 3, 1923 in Johnson City, TN, she was the daughter of the late Posey and Lillie (Gray) Stewart.

Mrs. Johnson retired in 1989 as a bank teller with BB&T Bank in Falls Church, VA. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and being around animals. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Paul N. Johnson III and wife, Marcia, of Thurmont; three daughters, Sandra Hazelwood of Virginia, Sharon Corsie and husband, Gordon, of California, and Shirley Shover and husband, Emory, of Virginia; a brother, Carl Stewart of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two brothers, William Stewart and Posey Stewart, Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Andrus and Robbie Stewart.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.

Inurnment will be private for the family at a later date.
