Irene Brashear

Irene E. Brashear, 83, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro, MD, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at the home.

Born December 1, 1931 in Licksville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ross E. and Catherine (Etzler) Keeney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Brashear, Sr., in 1990.

She was a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren in Monrovia, MD and the Frederick Moose Lodge 371.

Mrs. Brashear was the "paper lady" having delivered newspapers for the Frederick News Agency. She was an avid Bingo player, loved dancing, flowers and quilting.

She is survived by sons, Cornelius M. Brashear, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Waynesboro, PA, Jeffrey A. Brashear of Union Bridge, MD and Michael W. Brashear of Fulton, MD; daughters, Darlene E. Brashear of Union Bridge, Jean I. Stackhouse and husband, Wayne, of Thurmont, MD, Ada M. Morders and husband, Ralph, of Monrovia and L. Ann Colson and husband, Doug, of Libertytown, MD; brothers, Donald L. Keeney and Roger Keeney; sisters, Alta Toms, Joyce Flohr, Janet Kauffman, Faye Thompson and Ruth Grimes; 26 grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brashear was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Carol Huffman; brothers, Ross E. Keeney, Jr., David W. Etzler and Vernon L. Keeney; sisters, Catherine L. Whalen and Dorothy Davis; and great-grandson, Joshua Everhart.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick with Pastor Paul Leatherman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monrovia.
