Hyliene Beatrice Viola (Hardey) Tusing, 100, passed from this life on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born on January 16, 1912, in Garrett's Mill, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William Bruce and Mary Elizabeth (Seeler) Hardey. Her husband, Anthony W. Tusing, preceded her in death on March 21, 1992.
She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. She lived along Lappans Road in Boonsboro for 56 years, and 10 years at Town Oak Village in Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans, Maryland, where she had formerly been a member of the Altar Guild and also grew Zinnias for the church Altar. She will be fondly remembered for her hobbies; gardening, reading, sewing, art and traveling.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara E. Forsythe of Hagerstown; two sons, Charles L. Tusing and wife Eileen of Hagerstown, and Robert L. Tusing of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Randy L. Tusing, Patty A. Forsythe, Lisa A. Hinson, Karen S. Tusing, Deanna L. Karn, Denise D. Price, and Kimberley S. Booth; one great grandson, Trevor A. Price; and two sisters, Irene B. (Hardey) Abbott Weltz of Keedysville, and Imogene B. (Hardey) Reeder of Hagerstown.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Anthony Tusing on September 19, 1989; and her brother, William Seeler Hardey on November 10, 2001.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the ceremony on Tuesday at the funeral home.
