Mr. Hurshel Paul Deavours, Jr., 78, of Frederick, Md., passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, while under Hospice care at Kline House. He was born on December 8, 1934, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Mr. Deavours proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1962. His training there led him into a career in electronics and computers, ending as a manager in sales support for NCR. He loved to golf, dance, fly a paraplane, travel, work on home projects, and spend time with his treasured grandkids.
He was the cherished husband of Sue Deavours for 20 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa Case of Brunswick, Md., her husband Scott, and her three children, Grace, Gabriel, and Glorie Cassutto; his son, Scott Deavours of Long Beach, Calif.; and his stepson, Scott Stohlman of Mt. Airy, Md., his wife Tina, and their two children, Scott Jr. and Adrianna. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sister.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 2-4 p.m.and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Rd., Boyds, Md. Pastor Merritt W. Ednie will officiate, and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
