Hueston Putman

September 2, 1917 — January 10, 2017

Mr. Hueston Elroy Putman, 99 of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Maria Putman.  They were married for 63 years.

He was born in Lime Kiln, Maryland on September 2, 1917.  He was the son of the late Roy Greenberry Hezekiah Putman and Alta Duvall Putman.  He served with the 3rd Armored Division supporting the 84th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII.  Hueston worked for the Bowers Lumber Company and later at the Barnes Cabinet Shop retiring in 1981.  He was a member of the local Moose Lodge #371 and the Jefferson Ruritan Club.  He was a member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Feagaville, MD.

A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived; two sons,  Larry Putman and wife Ruby of Jefferson and Donald Putman and wife Richelle of Frederick; five grandchildren, Debra, Jeffrey, James, Megan and Lauren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Robbins and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by many other family members, close friends and a special thanks to Donna at the Airways Inn Restaurant and Laura and staff at Bob Evans.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike on Thursday, January 12th from 2-4 and 6-8pm Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 13th at 11:00am with Rev. Kenneth Gill officiating.

Interment with military honors will be at St. Luke’s Cemetery, Feagaville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to: St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery Association, 5801 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703.
