Howard Davis, Sr.

May 18, 1916 — April 16, 2008

Howard Franklin Davis Sr., age 91, of Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, and formerly of Trego, MD, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.


Born May 18, 1916 in Leetown, WV, he was a son of the late William Edward and Bessie Elizabeth Fellers Davis.


Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Rohrer Davis, on April 28, 2001.


He had retired from Victor Products in Hagerstown.


Howard was a member of Leetown Church of the Brethren.


He was a well-known softball player who had played with many teams in Washington and Frederick counties.

Howard is survived by one son, Howard F. "Bunny" Davis Jr. and wife Sue of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Vicki Keller and husband Johnnie of Wolfsville, MD, Denise Fogle and husband Mike of Thurmont, MD, Mark Davis and wife Lisa of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, and James Davis of Hagerstown; five great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Keller, Zachary Keller, Corey Fogle, Derrick Fogle and Stephanie Fogle; a special friend, Della Long of Keedysville, MD, and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by five sisters, Bessie Mellow, Rebecca Fellers, Ida Seiss Smith, Carrie Willingham and Mary Chapman; and three brothers, Johnny Davis, William Davis and Charles Davis.


Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.


The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
