Homer Boyd

October 29, 1926 — June 20, 2015

Homer Lewis Boyd, 88, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on  June 20, 2015 at Odyssey Assisted Living in Frederick.

Born in Alderson, West Virginia on October 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Homer and Orene (Lewis) Boyd.

He attended Talcott High School in West Virginia.

He was a life long member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro and a WWII veteran.

Homer retired from Earl W. Hoffman & Sons Mill, having also worked at J.B. Fergusons.

He is survived by his wife of  66 years, Geraldine A. (Minnick) Boyd; five daughters, Shelva J. Kline and husband Bobby of Boonsboro, MD, Shirley A. Ernde and husband Charles of Hagerstown, MD, Ruth Smith and husband Robert of Boonsboro, MD, Nancy L. Michael and husband Roger of Hagerstown, MD, Debbie L. Slick and husband Robert of Boonsboro, MD; two sons, Ronald L. Boyd and wife Bonnie of Smithsburg, MD, Gary W. Boyd and wife Lillian of Hagerstown, MD; his 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jane Coleman.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Pastor Chris Schlotterbeck will be officiating. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Boonsboro.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
