Hilda Maier McCombs, 91, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Hoke E. McCombs, Jr., died November 21, 2011.
Born on February 7, 1926, in Edmonston, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elsie (Pullman) Maier.
She loved and adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hilda is survived by her son, David E. McCombs and wife, Holly, of Highland, MD, daughter, Claudia M. Spivey and husband, Richard, of Mt. Airy, MD and Harvey W. McCombs of Silver Spring, MD; eight grandchildren, Jillian, Jordan, Mark, Stacey, Laura, Hunter, Ryan and Jennifer; six great-grandchildren, Savanna, Olivia, Abigail and Penelope, and Chase and Hannah; and her brother, Fred Maier of Silver Spring, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura L. Moore; and a son, Ronald E. McCombs; and two brothers, Ernie Maier and Alvin Maier.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.
A celebration of Irma Hilda's life journey will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, MD. Rev. Rudolph Kampia will officiate. Interment will be held in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
