H. George Moss, 74, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, formerly of Brunswick, MD passed from this life on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Martinsburg VA Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born on July 8, 1946, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Margaret Isabella (Dunn) Moss. His loving wife of 48 years, Lois Ann Moss, preceded him in death.
George was a 1964 graduate of Brunswick High School. Right after high school he joined the Navy. In 1967 he was honorably discharged from the military and he then worked for Weinchel Engineering until his retirement from Fairchild Industries, where he was employed for nearly 33 years.
He was a member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion in Frederick, and the National Bowling Duck Pin Congress. He loved duck pin bowling on several leagues in the State of Maryland, where, for many years, he was on the duck pin pro tour. George attended the Sharpsburg Bible Church in Sharpsburg, MD. He was an avid Ravens Fan, loved coaching Dakota in sports and attending all of the kids' games.
He will be sorely missed by his children, Lisa (Moss) Westfall, and husband, Ric, of Martinsburg, and Ray Martin and wife, Angela, of Hagerstown, MD; his five wonderful grandchildren, Dakota Martin, Victoria Martin, Braden Martin and wife, Mackenzie, Collin Martin, and Alexandra House; sisters and brothers, Reta Merser of Hagerstown, Mary Sue Bohrer of Hedgesville, WV, David Moss of Hagerstown, and Tony Moss of Brunswick; nephew, Gary Smith, Sr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Brunswick; great-niece and great-nephew, Gary Smith, Jr. and Dawn Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is remembered by a special companion, Dinah Bentley.
George was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Moss Lawson.
A celebration of George's life journey will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick. Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate. Final resting place will be in the Ebenezer UMC Cemetery in Purcellville, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home in Brunswick.
