Frederick

Heston Fitzgerald Bass, Sr. (“aka”Bear”) 61, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 23, 2025, at the Frederick Health Hospital. He was born November 22, 1963, to the late Shirley Ann Bass and Thomas Charles Bass, Sr.

He was a devoted and faithful member of Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Usher until he became ill. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Heston truly truly loved his family. He was a jokester, loved making people laugh and was the life of the party.

His latest hobby consisted of fixing up older model cars which belonged to his brothers and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling to North Carolina on occasion to locate missing car parts. He enjoyed going to car shows and won his first trophy while showing his brother’s 1986 Pontiac Parisienne car. Heston was also a member of the Secret Dancers 70/80 group. His favorite saying was “It feels so good loving somebody when somebody loves you back.”

Heston leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife of 21 years, Vera Lynn Bass; daughters, Zione Bass and Octavia Naylor; granddaughters, Erin Bass and Phynix Dorsey; sisters, Imogene Smith, Kenyetta Jones (Darryl) of Toledo Ohio, Melissa Jackson of Michigan; brother, Antonio Waits and Deandre Hill both of Toledo Ohio; Aunt Iris Ford, the matriarch of the family; loving step-mom, Norma Bass and mother-n-law, Delores Hall (Kirk); nieces, Shania and Lanique and nephew, Anntay along with many more loving, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Bass, father, Thomas Charles Bass, Sr., brother, Thomas Bass, Jr. and son Heston Bass, Jr.

Heston was fun, friendly and faithful to all he met. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and a special friend to many. We will cherish the memories and keep them forever in our hearts.
