Herman G. Blickenstaff

August 20, 1926 — May 30, 2008

Mr. Herman G. Blickenstaff, 81, of Sabillasville died peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2008 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was the husband of 58 years to Jane M. (Kuhn) Blickenstaff.

Born in Frederick County, MD on August 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Mae (Smith) and Hobert Blickenstaff.

A veteran of the US Army serving during WW II, Herman was a retired machinist with Mitchell Corporation with over 40 years of service.

A member of the Thurmont American Legion, he was an avid golfer and loved to work in his garden.

Besides his wife survivors include three sons; Michael Blickenstaff and wife Patricia of Newark, DE, Jerry Blickenstaff and wife Ruby of Thurmont, and Terry Blickenstaff and wife Sharon of Hernando, MS; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren; his sister, Lois Gibson of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jack Blickenstaff of Bunker Hill, WV, and Robert Blickenstaff of Spring Hill, FL. Herman was preceded in death by a son, Butch Blickenstaff, one brother and five sisters.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD

Services: Funeral service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 with Rev. Eugene Harne officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery in Foxville, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Smithsburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 411, Smithsburg, MD 21783, Wolfsville Rescue Squad, 12464 Wolfsville Road, Myersville, MD 21773, or Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
