Herbert Stephens, Sr.

Herbert Gordon Stephens, Sr., 85 of 20009 Rosebank Way, Hagerstown and formerly of Cherry Lane Road, Friendsville, MD, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Loyalton Assisted Living.
Born July 27, 1922 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Herbert Louis and Alta Grace Nixon Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lillian Johnson Stephens, in 2000.
He was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Navy.
He was a former member of the Lions Club and the American Legion, both of Friendsville; and the Izack Walton League and a Scout Master Troop 447, both of Rockville, MD.
He was a former member of Rockville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by son, Herbert G. Stephens, Jr. of Gresham, OR; daughter, C. Beth Wood of Middletown, MD; son, Richard C. Stephens of Boonsboro; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, April 26 at Sang Run Cemetery, McHenry, MD.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
