Herbert Doll Sr.

Herbert William Doll Sr. 85, of Walkersville, MD, formerly of Catonsville, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 14, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte “Bootie” (Wenck) Doll.

Born on December 3, 1933 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Hubert Doll and Katharina Rotarius Doll. Herb graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1952. He went to work for C & P Telephone before joining the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA from 1954-1956. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the phone company and continued to work for 37 ½ years at C & P of Maryland and Bell Atlantic. During Herb’s 29 years of retirement, enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with the “Dirty Dozen”, woodworking in his “shop” in the basement, target shooting at the range and traveling. A tremendous amount of time was spent with his beloved family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Herbert W. Doll, Jr. (Carolyn), Cheryl A. West (Robert), Katherine D. Corona (Joseph) and Mark E. Doll; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Doll, Christina Hahn and Henriette Harman and great-grandson Brennan Doll.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on December 19, 2018 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville MD 21793. The funeral mass will begin at 11am. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be private at a later date.
