Mr. Herbert A. Divel, Sr., 70 of Hanover, PA (formerly of Unionville, MD) passed away at Hanover Hall on Friday, March 2, 2012. He was the husband of Carol Toms Divel, his wife of 26 years.
Born September 15, 1941 in Hancock, MD., he was the son of the late Marshall and Elsie Stephens Divel.
Mr. Divel retired from Richard B. Stine, Inc. in Woodsboro. He was a member of the Patriotic Club, Redmen Chippewa, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1067 of Frederick, and the American Legion Post #282, Woodboro, MD. He loved relaxing with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Herbert A. Divel, Jr and wife Rebecca of Hanover, Pa, Richard E. Divel, Sr. and wife Carol of Union Bridge, MD and Melissa A. Divel and fiancé David Murray, Jr.of Keymar. Md, three grandchildren Richard E. Divel, Jr, Ashleigh Divel and Allen Divel, two great grandchildren, step-children John D. Johnson of Frederick, Dawn Carns and husband Charles of Mt. Airy and Laurie Johnson of Unionville, seven step grandchildren, five brothers Robert Divel, Lloyd Divel, Carroll Divel, Kenneth Divel, and Roger Divel, and a sister Betty Manning. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother Marshall Divel, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD on Wednesday, March 7, from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 pm.
