Mr. Henry Daniel Lakin, Jr., 85, a lifelong dairy farmer from Jefferson died Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Alma J. Lakin.
Born December 27, 1928 in Jefferson, he was the son of the late Gladys and Henry D. Lakin, Sr.
Mr. Lakin was a lifetime member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ of which he held various leadership positions. He also was a charter member of the Jefferson Ruritan, a lifetime member of the Jefferson Grange, and a charter member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company.
He was an avid Yankees fan. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ronald Whipp and wife, Lori; daughter-in-law, Linda Whipp; five grandchildren, Robby Whipp (Tracey), Blaine Whipp, Chad Whipp (Carrie), Lesley Whipp (fiancé Doug Little) and Ryan Whipp (Kelly); six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Bobby, Cole, Kane, Bristol, and Kage Whipp; his brother, Jack Lakin; sister, Patsy Keller (Gene); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lakin was predeceased by a son, Robert Y. Whipp, and a sister-in-law, Jane Lakin.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 from the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, in Jefferson. Officiating will be the Revs. John and Rebecca Shillingburg.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
