Henry Hutton

Henry Hutton, 99, most recently lived in Hagerstown, Md. at Somerford Place.

He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on Dec. 14, 1916. Henry was the son of the late Robert and Mary Hogarth Hutton. He was married to the late Doris Huffer of Boonsboro, Md. who died in 2010.

Henry grew up in Hampton, Va. and graduated from Hampton High in 1935. He attended business college, worked in the Newport News Shipyards. He served in the U.S. Army 5th Armored Division in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe, during World War II.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster in the Hampton area. He retired to the Ft. Myers, Fl. area.

He was active in the First Presbyterian and the Aldersgate United Methodist Churches, Hampton, Va. and the First United Methodist Church, Ft. Myers, Fl. Henry was a member of the Lions Clubs of Hampton, Va. and Ft. Myers, Fl.

Henry is survived by his sister, Isabelle Hutton Eutsey, Zellwood, Fl. and nieces and nephews: Margaret Ann Fox of Boothbay Harbor, Me.; John L. Boutwell of Ft. Myers, Fl.; Robert E. Boutwell of Randelman, N.C.; David L. Thomas of Altamont Springs, Fl.; and Isabella Hutton Leonard of Columbus, Oh.; and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Robert Hutton, Margaret Hutton Old, Albert Hutton, and Bessie Hutton Fox.

Henry is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Alfred C. Huffer, Jr. of Delmar, Md. and H. Mark Swain of Williamsport, Md.; nephew, Andreas Huffer of Greencastle, Pa.; niece, Lisa Huffer Harbaugh of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; and special niece, Marcia Swain of Williamsport, Md.

The family would like to thank the staff at Somerford Place and Hospice of the Washington County for their compassionate and professional care.

Arrangements are by Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Boonsboro Cemetery beside his wife. Services will be conducted by Reverend Gregory P. Harbaugh at the convenience of the family.
