Mrs. Helen Stavis Woelfel, 81, of Thurmont, Maryland passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, with her family by her side, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Anthony Woelfel.
Born October 5, 1930 in Sabillasville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Edna Wise Stavis.
Mrs. Woelfel was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Thurmont Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Thurmont High School and Hagerstown Business College. Helen retired, after 30+ years of service, from Moore Business Forms. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and traveling.
She is survived by her children John G. Woelfel, II and wife Brenda, Steve Woelfel and wife Jill and Susan Topper and husband Nevin, grandchildren Amanda Woelfel, Bradley Topper and wife Natalie, Michael Topper and special friend Tabetha, Derek Woelfel and Tara Woelfel all of Thurmont, great grandchildren Alexis, Ariana and Kamryn, her uncle Thomas Stavis and cousin Father Paul Thomas. She will also be remembered by Cathy Kettler, Pat Willhide, Margaret Carbaugh and many other good friends. She was preceded in death by a son Gregory Woelfel.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Thursday April 12, from 2-4 and 6-9 pm Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, April 13, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 103 North Church Street, Thurmont.
Interment Blue Ridge Cemetery.
