Helen Jackson Tate suffered many years with Diabetes passed from Aortic Stenosis.  She passed on to glory in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at home surrounded by her family and close friends.  She was 85, Born June 3, 1927 in Greensboro, NC and resided most of her life in Ashton, MD. She was a devoted wife of 67 years and is survived by her husband Raymond T. Tate.  Helen is survived daughter, Susan T. Burrowbridge (Don) of Tampa, FL, son, Stephen E. Tate (Jacki) of Mount Airy, MD, son Andrew P. Tate of Yankeetown, FL, and Daughter, Elizabeth T. Winters (Fiancé Wayne Kitzmiller) of Mount Airy, MD.  Grandchildren Erin Leonard (Chris), Stacy Bullock, Kevin Burrowbridge, Alex Harden (Dan), Dana Tate and Margaret Winters as well as 7 Great Grand Children. She was active in her community and took a leadership role in many organizations including The Ashton United Methodist Church, Montgomery General Hospital, MGH thrift shop, Sandy Spring Museum, Sandy Spring Neighbors Club, Montgomery County Homemakers, Solomon’s Island Museum, the Wednesday Club, and the 446 th Bomb Group.  She was a Girl Scout leader; a high school band mom and she never met a dog she didn’t love. She was a generous benefactor and supported many community and veterans organizations.  She lived a rich and full life and wanted to experience everything.  She and Raymond traveled extensively throughout the world and Helen loved to share her adventures with others.  We will miss her loving smile and gracious heart.  She has put on her dancing shoes with Jesus.  Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD 21771 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Ashton United Methodist Church, 17314 New Hampshire Avenue, Ashton, MD 20861, 1 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Day’s End Farm Horse Rescue, P.O. Box 309 Lisbon, MD 21765, The American Diabetes Association, and/or Carroll County Hospice. Online Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com .
