Helen Rosalie Emerick Stevens, 82, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born March 24, 1935 in Barrelville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Beulah Elizabeth Michaels Emerick. She was the loving wife, of over 7 years, to Richard W. Stevens of Hagerstown.
She was employed by Washington County Health Department for 11 years. She was employed as housekeeper at the Christ Reformed Church and at the bank located at Fort Detrick. She was a cashier and part-time bookkeeper at the Grand Union Food Stores, was sales and the unit sales controller for both JCPenney and Montgomery Ward.
Helen was a life member of Local DAV auxiliary and an auxiliary member of the Funkstown American Legion.
She was a very giving person having helped many people in her lifetime. As she always said, "she did it her way!"
In addition to her husband, Richard (Pops), Helen is survived by her children and stepchildren, Beverly A. Gillette and husband, James, of Sebring, Florida, Kimberly S. Christo and husband, George, of Washington, D.C., Robert R. Kline and wife, Donna, of Cumberland, Maryland, Michael L. Kline, of Magnolia, Delaware, Raymond L. Puglisi of Boonsboro, LeRoy C. House, Jr. of York, Pennsylvania, Patricia Hornbaker and husband, William, of Newport News, Virginia, James W. Stevens of Hagerstown and Sandra L. Puglisi of Venice, Florida; many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and sister, Barbra J. Claggett.
She was preceded in death by four husbands, Dale B. Ames, Robert L. Kline, Anthony S. Puglisi and LeRoy C. House, Sr.; son, Anthony S. Puglisi, Jr.; daughter, Carol J. Ames; stepdaughter, Debra K. Massie; and brothers, William D. Emerick and Charles R. Emerick.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Kurtz officiating. Burial will be held at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
