Helen Louise (Davis) Smith, 98, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed peacefully from this life to the next on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at NMS Healthcare in Hagerstown.
Born on May 17, 1913 in Tilghmanton, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Ida Blanche (Jones) Davis. Her husband, Edgar Elias Smith, preceded her in death in 1976.
Helen was a member of the Manor Church of the Brethren in Tilghmanton.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vivian Arlene McCall of Hagerstown, and Rayetta L. Gordon of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; two sons, Ronald L. Smith and his wife Elaine of Hagerstown, and Gary L. Smith and his wife Cheryl of Catonsville, Maryland; one sister, Frances D. Gilbert of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby F. Hart; and her three brothers, Allen, Ellsworth and Harry Davis.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Joy Zepp will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Manor Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Tilghmanton.
Friends are invited to visit beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the funeral home where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
