Mrs. Helen R. Rodgers, 90, of Thurmont, MD, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at St. Joseph Ministries. She was the wife of the late Joseph "Joe" E. Rodgers.
Born February 15, 1924 in Walkersville, she was the daughter of the late William and Reta Bell Pittinger Filler.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Emmitsburg and The Edwin G. Creager Post #168 American Legion Auxiliary. She retired in 1986 from Seton Day Center in Emmitsburg.
She is survived by her daughters Wanda L. Glass and husband Gary and Josephine "Jody" Eyler all of Thurmont, grandchildren Monica Glass Workman, Gary J. Glass and Melissa A. Glass Bowers and Arianne "Niki" Eyler, four great grandchildren Joshua R. Workman, Shelby M. Workman, Addison E. Eyler and Avery Bowers, and great great grandchildren Bryson and Riley Workman and a sister Patricia I. "Patty" Whitmore of Woodsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by seven sisters; three brothers; and her son-in-law, Albert Eyler.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, Sunday, January 4, from 2-4 and 7-9:00 pm where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 5, at 11:00 am, from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 47 DePaul Street, Emmitsburg.
Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church at the above address.
