Helen Myers

Mrs. Helen Virginia Myers, 83, of Frederick went home to be with her loving Lord and Savior October 4, 2015. She was the wife of Robert Walker Myers Jr., who preceded her in 2001.  Mrs. Myers was born December 12, 1931 in Feagaville. She was the daughter of the late William Elmer and Ethel May Blank.

As a life time member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church near Feagaville, she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, served on the Altar Guild, secretary/treasurer of the Memorial Committee.  She was also a long time member of the Mount Zion Ladies Aid Society where she held many positions through the years; her favorite being the Sunshine Committee delivering and sending gifts and cards to the sick and shut-ins.  Mrs. Myers was also a member of the Ballenger Grange 341.

When her children were young she was a team mother for her son’s baseball teams, and a leader of the Ballenger Girls 4-H where her daughters were members.

Helen loved spending time with her family; she always looked forward to holiday dinners and picnics when the whole family would come together to enjoy spending time with her.  She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, eating out with friends, and especially our once a month girls night out.

Surviving are two sons Richard W. Myers and wife Anne, Robert K. Myers and wife Star; two daughters Carol T. Norwood and Connie V. Wisner and husband Steve all of Frederick. Grandchildren Polly Ann Carwile and husband Howard, Tracie Myers Horman, C. Robert Norwood and wife Nicole, Jason Myers and wife Michelle, Duane Myers, Robert Wisner and wife Sara; Great grandchildren Cheyenne Norwood, Serena Wisner, Ethan Wisner, Jacob Wisner, and Emma Mathews. Sister Mildred L. Gray, brother Ralph Blank, sister-in-law Patsy Blank and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by close friends Betty Shaw and Jennifer Wisner.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by six brothers William F. Blank Sr., Paul Blank, Carroll Blank, Austin Blank, James L. Blank, Robert Blank, half-sister Pearl Beachley and grandson Stephen A. Wisner.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 9, and 10 to 11 Saturday, October 10, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ken Gill of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
